Good Morning OLA!   Today is Thursday, November 11, 2021. 

 

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  

 

We continue to honor our Veterans, who have served our country with the highest respect.  

 

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

 

Romans 13:6  This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Ouch! We hate taxes. But we have to admit, we enjoy many of the privileges and blessings that those taxes afford. Paul keeps reminding us in Romans 13 that civil authorities are God's tools to hold back anarchy, chaos, and lawlessness. As Christians, we are immune to most laws because our faith in Jesus is going to regulate our behavior far more strictly than a legal code. But we do have a responsibility (I owe it, Paul says) to be good citizens, good financial managers, nice respectful neighbors, and people who willingly honors those who have merited it.

Almighty God, we pledge allegiance to you. You alone are Sovereign, Ruler, and King. But because you call us to honor our government, because you have so richly blessed us to be in a land such as this, because you have lavished your grace on us so richly, we will live today in a way that honors our allegiance to you, our citizenship in our country, and our respect toward those whom we meet this day. In Jesus we pray..

 

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We do not have Mathcounts this week, next meeting will be Wednesday, November 17th.

 

We will not have Robotics and Lego League this week.  We will meet again next Thursday.

 

Mu Alpha Theta is hosting a Chicken Mini Breakfast Fundraiser next Friday, November 19th.  For $5 you will get 4 chicken minis and a drink - to be picked up from the commons by 8:10 am.  If you wish to order, complete the link in the MAT email by 3:30 pm Thursday.  Your FACTS account will be charged.  Proceeds go to help MAT host Late Night Breakfast during Exam Week.

 

National Honor Society offers free tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:00, report to room 19.

Today: JV/V soccer at home vs. Biloxi, Varsity at 5:30 and JV following

-Junior high soccer at Long Beach Middle at 5:30 pm

-Varsity basketball at PRC at 6 pm
