Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Thoughts on today's verse:   How often do you let God do major surgery on your spirit as his Spirit uses the Word to encourage, judge, motivate, convict, instruct, and inspire? With such a great tool so readily at hand for most of us, let's not let a day go by that we don't let God use his word on hearts. Almighty God, your will is our heart's desire. We want your character and righteousness to inform our hearts when we are tempted not to live for you. Gently humble us when we are wrong or have lost our way. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing, and perfect will. Thoughts on today's verse:   Let us be transformed by renewing our minds and doing what Paul said he did -- take every thought, every word, captive for Christ. O Lord, please guard my soul from pride, my heart from callousness, and my mind from too much focus on unimportant things and not enough on your things. Thoughts on today's verse:   When we see mountains we feel small, knowing not only how much larger they are than we are, but also how much longer they have been here than we have been. But the Lord existed long before any mountain and will exist long after it has melted into nothing. The only rock of security, and all the forevers we have, are found in him.   Prayer: Eternal Father, who is and was and will be forever, we trust that you are and will always be our God, our Redeemer, our Savior, our Shepherd, and our Father. Thoughts on today's verse:   In truth, God is always close to those who genuinely seek after him. The real problem is that we drift away from him, lose interest, and leave his presence. So let's seek him and receive his grace and his help while we recognize that he alone is the one who truly saves. Father, we seek you with all our hearts. While we seek to know about you through your Word, we long to know you and be known by you as a tender father knows his child and as a child feels complete trust toward his tender father.
