                           OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Monday, November 28, 2022

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Monday, November 28, 2022.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God as we offer our special intentions for those in need of our prayers.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Yesterday was the first Sunday of Advent, which is the beginning of the New Year in the Church. As we journey through Advent together, we will light the Advent wreath in the morning and add an ornament to our Jesse tree each day. These traditions help us remember how the Chosen People waited and prepared for the Messiah, and helps to prepare our hearts and homes for the second coming of Jesus.

This morning, we light one purple candle on our wreath for the first week of Advent, the week of hope.

We begin the Jesse tree with the stump of Jesse.  The Jesse stump represents a tree that has been so devastated that only the stump remains.  Jesse was the Son of Ohed, and the grandson of Boaz and Ruth. He was a farmer and sheep breeder in Bethlehem. He raised the sheep that would be offered in the sacrifices of the Chosen People. Jesse was also the father of King David.  But wait, says Isaiah: “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.” There's hope for God's people! God plans to raise up a Savior, both tender and powerful, a promise not only to Israel but to all nations.

Let us pray:  All-powerful God, increase our strength of will for doing good that Christ may find an eager welcome at his coming and call us to his side in the kingdom of heaven, where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God, forever and ever.  ~AMEN.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Please remain standing for the Pledge:

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
