Good Morning OLA!    Today is Monday, December 12, 2022. 

 

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God as we offer our special intentions for those in need of our prayers.  

 

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

 

This week we light the third candle on our Advent Wreath.

From the letter to the Philippians

Rejoice in the Lord always! I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

 

Let us pray: Stir up our hearts, O Lord, to joy. Lift up our heads from the dust and adorn us with your righteousness, that we may rejoice and testify that our Lord has come; for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Today we place Jonah and the whale and the lion on our Jesse Tree.

Jonah was a prophet who brought God’s special messages to the people of Ninevah.  He tried to run away from God and his special job and ended up in the belly of a whale.  God saved Jonah and he went to do the job God asked him to do.

Animals are one of God’s great gifts.  The Bible says that one day God will restore peace to the world.  There will be no hunger or fear, and , "the lion will lie down with the lamb." What a peaceful place God’s kingdom will be!

Birthdays

Celebrating their birthday yesterday was Melanie Champagne.  And celebrating birthdays today are Megan Laville and Serenity Summers.  Happy Birthday to ALL!

 

IMPORTANT MESSAGES

Come out to the annual "Late Night Breakfast" Study Session on TOMORROW from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the OLA Commons, hosted by Mu Alpha Theta.  Come study with your friends, ask your teachers those last minute exam questions, and enjoy some bacon (and other breakfast foods)!  Any questions, see Ms. Ashley. 

 

Any Chorus Club member who would like to go to Dunbar Village after school tomorrow to go Christmas Caroling with Campus Ministry, please see Mrs. Jarrell.  You will need to have your own ride over to Dunbar Village and ride home.  We should be done around 4:30. Please come and help spread Christmas cheer!

 

Campus Ministry and choir members are invited to Dunbar Village tomorrow at 2:30pm to sing Christmas Carols with the elders.  You will need your own transportation.  We usually sing for thirty minutes.  See Mrs. Mayer or Mrs. Jarrell for details!
