Good Morning OLA!   Today is Tuesday, August 8, 2023. 

 

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  

 

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

 

Luke 12:6-7  Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Jesus reminds us that our significance is great -- not because we are so important but because we are known personally by God. We don't have to be afraid, we are known and loved by the One who is and was and is to come!

Eternal God, Almighty Father, Tender Shepherd, you already know my heart. You know where I struggle with sin, so please empower and forgive. You know my fears, so please encourage and strengthen. You know my immaturity, so please nurture and grow. You know my weakness and disease, so please comfort and heal. But even if none of these are answered, I am still awed by the fact that you choose to know me. Thank you! In Jesus name we pray.

 

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES

Bookbags

Bookbags should NOT be placed along the Composite Walls.  No items should be left outside of your locker.  If you need to purchase an extra locker, please see Mrs. Hinson.

 

1^st lunch, prior to going to lunch, if your book bag will not be needed to do school work during your lunch break – leave your book bag outside your 5^th period class.   Students are not allowed to leave the Commons to retrieve items from their lockers, you can stop by your locker on your way to lunch.

 

2^nd lunch, prior to going to lunch, if your book bag will not be needed to do school work during your lunch break – please leave your book bag outside your 6^th period class.

 

At the end of the school day, car riders should report to the carline ASAP!  Car riders and Bus riders, be sure to get all needed items from your locker before reporting to your 8^th period class so that when the bell rings at 3:30, you can report directly to the carline or your bus location.

 

OLA Sports

Today:  9th grade, JV and varsity volleyball will play Long Beach at home tonight. 9th grade starts at 4:30, JV at 5:30 and varsity will follow. 

 

For those interested in playing varsity basketball this season, there will be a team meeting TODAY during your lunch break in the Science Lab with Coach Bill Henley. This is for every 9^th-12^th grader interested in playing.  The Middle school teams will have a separate meeting in the coming weeks.

If you plan to play soccer, please plan to attend tryouts next Monday, August 14th and Tuesday, August 15th.

 

Teachers:  Please take daily attendance and enter your lunch count on the google doc.   Today’s Menu:  Hamburger with Trimmings, French Fries and Corn; or Soup and Salad Bar. Today’s Soup Corn, Crab and shrimp Bisque

 

If you are checking out early today, if you did not leave your cell phone in the office, please do so at the end of 1^st period.
