OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Friday, December 15, 2023

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Friday, December 15, 2023.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Please remain standing for the Pledge:

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Birthdays

Celebrating birthdays today are Kirynn Necaise and Mrs. Kim Breaux.  And celebrating their birthday on Sunday is Louise McCabe.  Happy Birthday to ALL!

Important Messages

Jesse Tree

Today we place ornaments on the Jesse Tree to represent Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and Joseph, his foster-father.

Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is our mother too.  When the Angel Gabriel came to tell her that she was chosen to be the mother of the Messiah, she replied," Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word."  Mary was the woman spoken of in the Protoevangelium in the Book of Genesis.  She is the New Eve, and Jesus is the New Adam, because their "YES" to God brought about salvation after the disobedience of the first Adam and Eve brought about sin.  Mary was the first disciple and is considered the highest Saint in Heaven.  She loves us as a mother, and she prays for us to God.

Joseph was betrothed to Mary, but the baby she was carrying was not his. Jesus is the son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit.  All of this was confusing to Joseph, who was given his chance to say "yes" to God's plan by the angel Gabriel.  Joseph did say yes, and he took Mary into his home and raised Jesus as his son.  He protected them and worked as a carpenter to provide for them.  He taught Jesus how to be a carpenter, too.

Today may we be reminded to look to Mary and Joseph as models of how to follow the will of our Father in Heaven.  May we say YES to God's plan in our lives, even if it is difficult and we do not understand.  And may we ask for their intercession for us at the throne of Heaven.
