OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Monday, December 11, 2023.  

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  

 

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

 

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Please remain standing for the Pledge:

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 

Jesse Tree

Today we place a lamp on the Jesse tree to remind us of Samuel, the prophet.  Samuel was with Eli, and every time he lay down to go to sleep, he heard his name, "Samuel, Samuel."  He would wake up and go to Eli who would say, "I did not call you."  Finally, Samuel realizes it is God calling to him and so he responds, "Speak, Lord, your servant is listening."  Samuel became a great prophet.  God calls us, too.  May we have ears and hearts that listen, and may we be ready to respond to God and do as he ask. 

We also place a branch on the tree to symbolize Jesse. Remember back to when we began our Jesse Tree and we read -- "a shoot shall spring forth from the root of Jesse." Jesus fulfills these prophesies and from him will proceed the Holy Spirit bringing the Gifts of the Holy Spirit which produce the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. 

We pray we can recognize Jesus as he comes into our lives and that our lives will bear much fruit for the Kingdom of God. 

Birthdays

Celebrating their birthday today is Melanie Champagne.  Happy Birthday Melanie!

 

Important Messages

IMPORTANT REMINDER ABOUT MORNING PROCEDURES:  Before 8am, ALL students must report to the commons. After 8am, 9th-12th grade students are allowed in the mercy garden, lockers, student resource center, and outside 1st period class. 7th and 8th grade students must remain in the commons until 8:15am. 

Christmas Band Concert! Tuesday night at 6:30 in the Bro. Peter gym.  Free admission, please support our band members by attending this event.

Come out to our annual "Late Night Breakfast" Study Session on Thursday, December 14th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the OLA Commons, provided by Mu Alpha Theta.  Come study with your friends, ask your teachers those last-minute exam questions, and enjoy some bacon (and other breakfast foods)!  Any questions, see Ms. Ashley.  

OLA Sports

Monday: Junior high basketball at Stone, 7th grade at 5 and 8th grade at 6:00.

-Junior high soccer at Pearl River Central at 5:30.

Tuesday: Varsity soccer at Perry Central at 5:30.

Wednesday: Junior high basketball at home vs. Long Beach, 7th grade at 5:30 and 8th grade at 6:30.

-Junior high soccer at Bay Middle at 5:30.

Friday: Varsity basketball at home vs. Perry Central at 6:00. 

Any student with an OLA sports uniform from a fall sport must turn it in to Coach Corley’s office by Friday. 

Teachers:  Please take daily attendance and also enter yours and your student’s lunch selection.   

Today’s Menu is our Christmas Brunch.  We will not have a salad bar today, nor will we be selling fountain drinks, water or cookies today.  If you order the “Christmas Brunch”, you will choose a drink which will be set up in the gym. If you do not order the Christmas brunch this morning, you should be brought your lunch from home. 

At this time, all students please stand for the daily uniform and cell phone check.
