OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Monday, December 4, 2023
Good Morning
OLA! Today is Monday, December 4, 2023.
Please stand for our morning
prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy
Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive
us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Please remain standing for the Pledge:
I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one
nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Celebrating birthdays over the weekend were Laney Fletcher and Aubrey Canzoneri. Happy “Belated” Birthday Laney and Aubrey!
Jesse
Tree
Yesterday marked the New Year in the Liturgical Calendar. The Church year begins by celebrating Advent – a time of waiting and preparing our hearts to welcome Jesus Christ so that we can walk with him and live as his disciples.
Today we will begin our celebration with the lighting and decorating of the Jesse Tree. Each day we will add two ornaments to our tree.
Scripture says, "A root shall spring forth from the stump of Jesse, and a branch out of its roots." This is where the Jesse tree gets its name. It tells the story of the Old Testament covenants leading up to the birth of Christ. Each day we will add an ornament to the leafless tree as we journey through 4000 years of history leading to the birth of Christ.
Our first two ornaments represent creation and the fall of man. In Genesis, we read, “God created man in his own image. In God’s image, he created him: male and female he created them. And God blessed them.” Man and woman are the pinnacle of God’s creation, and each of us is made to reveal a part of the heart of the Father to the world. To do that, we must be in relationship with God and know his heart and his word. In Genesis 2, Adam and Eve fall short of fulfilling their vocation. The serpent deceived them. Sickness and death entered the world. This was the first sin. Thankfully, in his infinite wisdom, love, and mercy, God already had a plan to save us!
Sometimes it's hard for us to be patient. Advent reminds us that God has a plan, and sometimes those plans take a while to fall into place. May we learn patience and trust in God during this Advent Season.
This Thursday, campus ministry and the choir will be traveling to Dunbar Village to sing Christmas Carols with the elders. We would love for you to join us! Please see Mrs. Mayer or Marley Kinniburgh for details.
What are you doing to prepare for Advent? You are invited to join in a bible study with the Blessed Virgin Mary during lunchtime. See Mrs. Mayer for details and to sign up.
