Tuesday, December 12. 2023 Morning Announcements
OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Tuesday, December 12, 2023
Good Morning
OLA! Today is Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
Please stand for our morning
prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy
Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive
us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Please remain standing for the Pledge:
I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one
nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Jesse
Tree
Today we hear about two kings as we place ornaments on the tree to represent King David and King Solomon.
David, the youngest of Jesse's sons, was anointed by Samuel to be the king after Saul. Saul did not like this idea, but, "David took his harp, and played with his hand; so Saul was refreshed, was well, and the evil spirit departed from him." David wrote many songs, which we know as the Psalms in the Bible. He was brave and killed the Philistine giant Goliath by using a rock and a slingshot. The prophet Nathan announced, "his throne will be established forever." This is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who is a descendant of David.
Solomon was the second son of David and Bathseba. Solomon asked God for wisdom to help him to judge the people correctly. God was pleased with this prayer and granted Solomon great wisdom. Solomon took pagan wives and followed them into worshipping false gods, even though he had been warned by God. We use the crown to represent Solomon who would be the last of the great kings of Israel. The kingdom will be split after his reign and will wither until on the tribe of Judah remains.
