Wednesday, December 6, 2023 Morning Announcements
OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Wednesday, December 6, 2023
Good Morning
OLA! Today is Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Please stand for our morning
prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy
Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive
us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Please remain standing for the Pledge:
I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one
nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Jesse
Tree
Today we add ornaments to symbolize Isaac and his son, Jacob.
Genesis 22 tells the story of God
testing Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. God saves
Abraham by sending an angel who tells Abraham, "do not lay your hand on
the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you
have not withheld your son, your only son, from me." Abraham trusted
and obeyed God, and God blesses him and his descendants because of it.
Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac and Isaac's willingness to lay down
his life foreshadows the sacrifice of Jesus, through which all people would be
blessed.
Jacob dreamt of a stairway that
would reach heaven. Yahweh stood above the stairway and said to Jacob,
"In you and in your offspring will all the families of the earth be
blessed." God changes the name of people in the bible to show that
he is sending them on a special mission. He changed Abram and Sarai to
Abraham and Sarah. God changes Jacob's name to Israel. We are given
a name at our Baptism, and again when we are Confirmed in
the faith.
Jacob has twelve sons and from
them will descend the twelve tribes of Israel. This is how the Jewish
nation begins. In the New Testament, Jesus will call twelve Apostles and
from them the Church will begin.
As we continue our journey
through Advent, we pray for an increase in faith and that we will live as a new
creation in Christ Jesus.
